A note from the Education Director, Lisa Foss

Dear Parents of HCT Students,

Thank you so much for your interest in Hartford Children’s Theatre – and for checking out our new and improved website! Please know that everyone on our staff welcomes your suggestions, comments and compliments so that we may be able to serve you and your child better with each experience at HCT!

On a personal note – I wanted to let you all in on why I feel HCT is such a special place – and why I commute an hour each way – every day – to be a part of the work we do here!

• HCT is not about only the PRODUCT of theatre, but about the PROCESS! Our purpose is not to churn out the next Hannah Montana or Jonas Brother – it is to provide young people with a safe, educational and FUN creative outlet. In the arts, there are no “wrong answers” – every child, at any skill level, can benefit from taking part.

• Being part of an ensemble is a skill that promotes quality teamwork and success! As anyone knows who has ever been “bitten by the theatre bug,” – when all of your hard work culminates into a successful public viewing of a creative project, there is a tremendous rush of pride in your accomplishments.

• Communication skills are of great value on and off stage. Overcoming nerves, being prepared, and learning to improvise  are essential skills that can easily be translated into everyday life.

• HCT welcomes your family! What makes us different is that we serve the kids! All of our instructors are theatre professionals who love sharing their talent and expertise with young people.

• HCT provides value for your hard-earned dollar. After each session of classes at HCT students are given the opportunity to perform at our Share Day presentations. In addition we offer Education Department Production classes year-round as well as School Vacation Performance Programs and Main Stage Shows!!!
