NEW! Our 2008-09 MainStage Family Series moves to the stage at the Carol Autorino Center for Arts and Humanities on the campus of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford. Because of its larger seating area and plentiful free, secure parking, this new location will allow more families and children to enjoy inspirational performances of children’s literature.

The show’s mystery weaves around the antics of a family’s dog and cat when they begin to suspect that the new pet rabbit just may be a vampire sucking the juice out of vegetables. HCT welcomes newcomer Danny O’Keefe of West Hartford in the lead as Harold to the stage. Danny attended HCT’s SummerTheatre and received rave reviews for his performance in Suessical, Jr. He is a student at Hall High School.
Some of HCT’s recent star performers will be featured in the show including Emme Pepe of East Hartford as Mrs. Monroe, Thomas Beebe of Andover as Pete, Samantha Bluth of South Glastonbury as Chester, Alex Crowell of Tolland as Mr. Monroe, Clare Meehan of Farmington as Toby and Dylan Stetson of East Berlin as Bunnicula puppeteer. Larkin Meehan of Farmington is the understudy for Chester.
Acclaimed artist and puppet maker Anne Cubberly of Hartford will design and construct the Bunnicula puppet for the show. Hartford Stage is constructing the set. Ryan Ratelle is designing the set.
Horrors! Strange things have started occurring in the Monroe home ever since they brought home their new pet rabbit. The family’s cat and dog suspect that this mysterious bunny may be a vampire! Can they discover the truth and alert the family before it’s too late? This musical romp based on the popular children’s book has delighted thrill-seeking audiences across the country.

Tree Wise tells the story of Reed, a boy who has Deaf parents, on his first day at school. Through the help of a very special tree, Reed learns how to help his classmates understand more about Deaf culture. Not only do the boy’s new friends learn, the tree teaches the audience some basic sign language in this fun, interactive, brand new play! Tree Wise, the children’s book by Antoinette Abbamonte, a Deaf actor, has been adapted by Garrett Zuercher, a Deaf playwright, and will be performed by the world-renowned Little Theatre of the Deaf, who have been seen on Sesame Street and The Disney Channel. You will see and hear every word!
